The Ulster Divison of the British Army attracted many Orangemen, including those from the Gerrard-Ashdale neighbourhood. The Ulster Division performed heroically under fire. The 36th Ulster Division Memorial Hall on Gerrard Street near Jones Ave. is dedicated to their memory. The Ulster Arms was a popular neighbourhood tavern (now closed).
