Hi My Brother’s picture is in the window he’s 52 turning 53 now, I would love to have a copy of this Clatons Store front Picture to get it in larger so he can see his Picture in that picture,that photo they used in there window taken about 1972
I used to work at Claytons after school. My dear friend was Cheryl Daniels, are you related to her? She lived on Gerrard st.

Where was Clayton’s located? We remember it on south side of Gerrard, just west of Greenwood. Other’s remember it as near Jones. We LOVED going there often in the 60’s. Had the best dark chocolate covered ginger which my mom loved.

It was right across the street from the original Strickland Meat
The real address is 1283 Gerard St not 128 I actually lived upstairs with my mom as a kid from 1982-1989. The original owner miss Clayton tested each batch of candy and gained allot of weight. So big the firemen had to remove the door frame to remove her. I remember huge line ups at Easter and Christmas. The entire store front always had chocolate Santa’s and Easter bunnies.

Yes it inspired me , as well as the “cosburne bakery to become a baker and confectioner! Yes God bless the lady and I believe her brother? As a boy my Scott’s grandmother would take us there. I loved the Victorian inspired coloured chocolate eggs, foil wraps and the like. There was a bakery next to this with the best egg buns. I’m talking 70’s. Around the corner Strickland’s meat butcher show where old granny would order the haggis for the Robbie Burns night ! What memories
So many memories! I used to go in there as a kid and would just breathe in all that chocolate. Remember standing at the window wishing I could buy one of those huge chocolate sailboats!!
